Slatted floor inflatable boats are excellent, versatile vessels that serve perfectly as entry-level boats or highly practical yacht tenders.

The primary advantage of an inflatable dinghy with a slatted floor is its portability. Because the floor is reinforced with individual slats rather than a full deck, the boat rolls up to a notably compact size. This can make it incredibly easy to stow in a cockpit locker, the boot of a car, or at home in the garage.

They also tend to be marginally lighter than air-deck models, which makes launching and recovering your inflatable tender a breeze.

Slatted-floor dinghies tend to be more of an entry level boat and affordable than air-deck models. As an entry level boat they are manufactured from PVC rather than Hypalon, which is a more expensive material. They still boast incredible durability and resistance to UV rays and salt water use.

Yes — for sailors who want a simple, easy-to-stow compact inflatable boat, a slatted floor dinghy is a very practical choice.

They're quick to inflate and deflate, easy to pull up onto a beach, and simple to manage in a dinghy dock. If you're regularly carrying a full crew or heavy loads, an air-deck model may suit better. But, for straightforward shore runs and occasional use, a slatted floor inflatable is hard to beat for simplicity.
