Having a good pair of binoculars is always handy to have on board for a whole range of reasons. We have a great choice of boat binoculars and monoculars available at all budgets. They are packed with great features such a being waterproof, floating binoculars, nitrogen filled (making them fog proof) and with a rubber armour coating.
A majority of the marine binoculars we stock are 7x50. This means the magnification level is 7x that of your normal vision. It also means that the you have 50mm objective lenses, the larger lenses you see out of to provide a wide field of view.
Higher levels of magnification would require a very steady set of hands or stable environment, which a boat typically isn't! High magnification levels decrease your field of view, making seeing smaller objects at sea difficult.
Some models come with built in compasses allowing you to take sight bearings whilst using the binoculars on your boat. All models come with lens caps to protect the glass lenses from dirt and scratches when not in use.
